Profiles

Profile is a special case of 2D Segment Strip. Profiles represent plots of cross-sectional parameters against position of the cross-section. Because of that n-th point of a Profile always has n-th Base knot as its first coordinate. Another difference from general strips is that profile represents a function, which means that any vertical line intersects the profile not more than once.

Segments of a profile are called Axial Segments. Joint points in a profile are called Axial Points. Assuming that one has access to the axial Base, axial point can be determined by its index in the strip and its vertical coordinate.

See also Axial Elements.
