2D Editors

2D Editors in DI 3D Debugger allow to create and modify 2D segment strips. A segment strip consists of a connected array of lines or arcs. See also Segment Strips.

2D Editors can have two modes: View and Modify . To switch between them use radio buttons in the Form View (Command page for Cross View and Profile Page for Profile View) or commands from the context menu available on right mouse button click.

The default mode of a 2D editor is "Modify". The "View" mode is used to zoom or pan the picture. Zoom: right mouse button movements. Pan: hold "Shift" key and left mouse button movements. Zoom is available in the Modify mode too. To make the picture fit the window when it is out of scope after modifications, use zoom or pan in view mode. It will be done automatically after re-selection of the current object in the editor which is previous in the editors hierarchy. Views>"Reset All" menu command also restores scope of all views to fit dimensions of the model.

To modify or view properties of a 2D object ( joint point, line or arc) it has to be selected. The selected object's properties can be modified with the mouse, by using Current Object page of the form or the Properties dialog from the context menu.

A joint point can be modified by drugging with the mouse or by using the Current Object Page or Property dialog.

A straight line can be modified by modifying end points or moving it with the mouse.

An arc can be modified by drugging any middle point or by using the dialogs.

A selected straight line can be changed to an arc and vice versa by using "Change Class" command available from the context menu (right mouse button).

Modification of a point generally changes curvature of adjoined arcs, that is why it is better to modify position of points first and than adjust curvature of arcs.

Some changes lead to an invalid geometry, for example when one tries to drag a middle point of an arc too far. In this case the editor does not accept the change. No error is displayed. This is true for both mouse modifications and changes done through dialogs (See Form View). See also Modeling Tips topic.
