Mesh Section
Mesh Section
Mesh Section is an object defined by its mesh. Like any other object in
DInsight software Mesh Section has its local frame, position and orientation
of which can be modified
and other properties like color and material.
When mesh section is selected as current for editing 3D Debugger
displays different layout of editors, which has only one object view, namely
3D View. Form View on the right can be used to modify location and orientation
of the object as well as its rendering properties./p>
Note that unlike 3DS and SOR sections Mesh Sections are not parametric
objects. In the current release surface of a mesh section can only be
modified programmatically in KernelCAD component using meshing interfaces.
Objects imported from VRML or STL CAD formats are added to the model as Mesh
Section objects. Mesh sections are also useful for programmatic surface
generation or manipulation for complicated objects or where exact
interpolation of calculated points is required.
Mesh Section objects can be created dynamically In KernelCAD Pro using Object
Generator class. To convert other type of objects to Mesh Section save it
as a VRML file and import it back.
One of advantages of Mesh Section is that some objects like scaled
sphere, free form line set or point set can be easily specified in VRML
format and imported as part of a model. These types of VRML objects can also
easily be generated programmatically. See VRML 97 Specifications for more details.
Mesh Sections are stored and loaded with the model like any other
objects.
