3D Curve Dialog
3D Curve properties dialog
3D Curve properties dialog is displayed on the Current Object Page of the form
when a point is selected in Cross-section View. Another way to access the same
information is to select the point in Cross-section View and select
"Properties" option from the context menu.
Radio buttons on the top of the dialog allow changing between type of
coordinate system in which the curve is defined. Because not any mathematical
function can be represented as a Profile, change of
coordinate system type generally leads to change in geometry of the curve.
Cross-section edit boxes specify point of intersection of the curve with
Cross Plane.
If this curve joins two surface patches, the dialog will display "Smooth
surface join" check box. Clear this check box if the joint has to be
rendered as a sharp edge. Note that this property does not have any effect on
geometry of the object but only on the way it is drawn in 3D. If this check box
is on, but actual geometry has a comparatively big angle at the joint, the
surface near the joint might be lighted incorrectly.
As geometry of any object is defined respectively to the local frame by
default the parameters are expressed by coordinates in the local axes. "Global
Coordinates" check box allows to change it. Note when "Global
Coordinates" check box is on, values of the parameters will depend on the
current position of the local frame. It will change when the object is moved in
3D.
